Bettie and I recently attended a bonsai class at the EcoCenter at Heron’s Head Park in San Francisco, taught by the knowledgeable and engaging instructor, Dory. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish!
Dory provided an introduction to the history of bonsai, as well as essential information on plant selection, soil composition, pots, tools, and overall care. She guided us step by step as we created our own bonsai from a 1-gallon Dwarf Jade plant. All necessary materials were provided, including a bonsai pot of our choice.
What set this class apart was Dory’s clear, patient instruction and hands-on approach. By the end of the session, we each had a beautiful bonsai to take home. Even after the class, she followed up with helpful emails answering questions and sharing links to local bonsai resources.
If you’ve ever been curious about bonsai, this class is a perfect introduction. It’s easy, rewarding, and well worth your time. We highly recommend it!
