Shipping policy

Thank you for shopping with us. Because we ship live bonsai trees, we take special care to ensure your plants arrive safely and in good health.

Processing Time

Orders are typically processed within 1–5 business days. During peak seasons or extreme weather conditions, processing times may be extended to ensure plant health.

Items marked as "Pre-Order" or otherwise noted with specific shipping timelines will be shipped according to the product description.

Shipping Methods

We ship via major carriers such as USPS, UPS, and FedEx. You can select your preferred shipping carrier and method at checkout.  While we strive to send packages by your preferred method and speed, we reserve the right to alter your selection for any reason including but not limited to: shipping cost, package size, destination, weather delays, or force majuere. Should we elect to alter the carrier selection or serivice we do not offer refunds based on variance of delivery dates.

Shipping Rates

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location, weight and order size. We may offer free shipping promotions from time to time. Shopify's software is responsible for calculating the shipping cost based on the size and weight of the items ordered. It regularly makes errors.  We reserve the right to issue a supplemental invoice in cases where the shipping cost paid is inadequate.  If this is the case you may request a cancellation/refund of your order instead.

Shipping Locations

We currently ship within the United States only. (with a couple exceptions for Tshirts and other items.)

Due to agricultural regulations, we may be unable to ship some plants to certain states (including but not limited to California, Arizona, and Hawaii, New York and Florida). If your order cannot be fulfilled due to restrictions, we will notify you and issue a full refund. In some cases a phytosanitary certification can allow shipments that are otherwise restricted.  If this is the case you may elect to pay the cost of the certification; this cost is not included in the shipping estimates or cost of the plants themselves.

Live Plant Shipping Considerations

  • Each bonsai tree is unique; size, shape; exact appearance may vary from photos based on the time since the photos were taken, season, and shipping conditions.
  • We monitor weather conditions and may delay shipments during extreme heat or cold to protect your plant.
  • Customers are responsible for ensuring someone is available to receive the package promptly. Damage may occur after the plant is delivered if it is left in hot or cold conditions.

Delivery Responsibility

Once a package is marked as delivered by the carrier, responsibility for the shipment transfers to the customer.

Carrier Delays

Delays caused by carriers are just as frustrating to us as they are to you.  We will work with you to ensure that plants are delivered as soon as possible. In rare cases carrier delays may result in DOA; see below. 

Damaged or Dead-on-Arrival (DOA)

If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

To request a replacement or refund, you must provide:

  • Clear photos of the plant and packaging
  • Your order number

We reserve the right to deny claims submitted after 48 hours or without sufficient documentation. Superficial damage to plants is common in shipping.

Order Changes & Cancellations

Orders may be modified or canceled within 24 hours of purchase but prior to fulfillment whichever is sooner. After this time, orders cannot be changed. 

Lost or Stolen Packages

If your package is marked as delivered but you cannot locate it, please:

  1. Check with neighbors and/or your local delivery office or package reception (in the case of large building/institutions/business delivery locations.)
  2. Check the carrier tracking and delivery notes provided in the delivery confirmation email.
  3. Check package lockers where applicable. 
  4. Check any available security footage based on the delivery time/date
  5. Contact the carrier directly.

We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages once marked as delivered.
